Beginning Digital Scrapbooking with Photoshop Elements

Imagine scrapbooking with supplies that you can reuse, resize and recolor in seconds flat! No need to set up or clean up your work area, it's all in your computer ready to go wherever you are.

Save time! Make a page and print a copy for yourself and another for Grama…even in different sizes. Spend your time scrapping instead of vacuuming up your scraps or clearing off the dining room table….again.

Still have lots of traditional scrapbook supplies that you want to use? Not a problem. I will introduce you to hybrid scrapbooking which incorporates traditional supplies with digital projects.

We will start with the basics so that you understand what Photoshop Elements has to offer which will save you precious time.

  • Week One:Create a page from a quick page and use the Type tool to add a title. We will also cover opening, closing, resizing, re-coloring and saving. Confused by layers? Don't worry, they will make complete sense after this class. Not sure what your printing options are? We'll cover those too.
  • Week Two: Create two pages from two different types of templates. Discover how quickly you can make a page with a layered template.
  • Week Three: Create a page from a digital kit. Learn how to crop photos and papers to mat them. You will learn more options for changing the colors of your supplies and master the Type tool.
  • Week Four: While creating more pages you will learn tips to save you lots of time. I will also introduce you to the Brush tool. Want to add traditional embellishments to your digital pages? I'll show you some tricks to make it easy.

Any version of Photoshop Elements. Please install prior to the start of class.

Organizing Photos with Photoshop Elements

Because digital photos are “free” we take a lot of them! The big problem is that all of those “free” photos have filled up our computers and external hard drives and we can’t find the photos we need. Even if you think you’re organized, you will be amazed at what you will learn in this class.

We will use the Photoshop Elements Organizer to set up a custom organizational system for your photos. You will organize your photos in this class; you will not be using my sample photos.
This class will show you how to organize your photos so that you can find them by:

  • Event
  • People in the Photo
  • Date
  • Your Favorites
  • You will also learn ways to protect your photos from a hard drive failure or other disaster.
  • Imagine finding the exact photo you need in seconds! My students tell me that this class has changed their life!

Note to Mac Users: The Organizer was not added to Photoshop Elements until version 9 (released September, 2010). Please do not sign up for this class if you have an older version of Photoshop Elements for the Mac. You may download a free trial version of Photoshop Elements at www.Adobe.com.
